People have moved on, and my own interests have changed. I'm not sure that what I'm getting from Flickr is worth the $50/year I'm paying. I'm sure that the owner is passionate, but his tone sometimes is condescending and it rubs me the wrong way. They made a huge database move, which is a great technical accomplishment, but other than that, not much seems to be happening. So from that aspect, I absolutely love it.įor the other side, since SmugMug bought it, it's gone pretty much nowhere. I've built up a large library of uploads (10,000+) in those 15 years, and it's my primary link source for pictures that I link to in other places. I learned so much from all the other photographers there, and met people IRL through it that I'm still friends with though many of them have moved on. And the European Space Agency and NASA because I like cool images from space.First, I've been a member since 2005, and was there when it was THE place to be for photography. Plus a few historical accounts like German Soldiers of WWI. I also follow a lot of people who photograph lighthouses, and Germany, because I like to see photos of those things.
